Friday Favourites from Phaidon.com: Paradise Lost
Every week in honour of #PhaidonFriday I pick one of my favourite features from the Phaidon.com Agenda. Today, I'm delving into the archives and revisiting Paradise Lost by aerial photography's pioneer, Georg Gerster.
Between 1976 and 1978, Gerster was granted rare permission to record the landscapes and cities of Persia. The patterns and features that are formed, sometimes only momentarily, make some of the most amazing aerial photographs. These are for fans of geologist turned photographer, Berhard Edmaier and his books Earthsong and Earth on Fire.
Phaidon.com has a gallery of photographs from the book Paradise Lost and there is also a video with Georg Gerster at the opening of his exhibition in March 2010.
